Programs & Services
Services To Young Parents:
A variety of services are available to young parents, including
one-to-one support, support groups and parenting classes.
The services include:
the Pregnancy Outreach Program, which
provides assistance and support to high-risk pregnant women; the New Beginnings Program, which offers support,
information, advocacy and referrals to young parents under 20 years of age
and the Creating Healthy Families Program which
provides group and individual support to families with children aged 0-6
years.The Nobody's Perfect Program, is a 6 week
educational program offered on a regular basis for parents of children 0 to
5 years of age.
Family Place is a casual drop in program for parents and their children
offered in various locations in the community. This program is offered in
partnership with the District of Campbell River Parks & Recreation
Services To Children & Youth:
Many services are available to children, youth and their families on an
individual or group basis. Services are provided both 'in' office and on an
the Special Services to Children Program
(referrals through the Ministry for Children and Families); Sexual Abuse Intervention Program, which provides
assessment and treatment services to children and adolescents who have been
sexually abused; Child and Family Liaison Program (referrals through
Ministry of Children and Family Development), Family
Support Outreach Program, which provides skilled intervention to
children and adolescents to help them deal with their problems and
Friendship Skills Summer Camps.
The Children Who Witness Abuse Program offers
group and individual counselling to children aged 3 to 18 who have
Specialized Services and Family Services:
Services to families include:
the Family Support Program which offers
counseling services to families experiencing difficulties; and the Behavioural Consultant for Caregivers Program, which
offers consultive and supportive services to foster parents.
Specialized Services offered include:
the Community Based Victim Services Program,
which offers services to victims of wife assault, adult sexual assault and
child sexual assault / abuse, and the Crisis Line,
a 24 hour a day telephone crisis line staffed by volunteers
Programs and Services
In addition to our "core" (government) funded programs, Family
Services also offers services which respond to identified needs in the
community. These programs and services are dependent upon fund-raised
dollars which are allocated on a yearly basis. Friendship Skills for Boys
& Girls and Parent Education Courses are two services we have been able
to offer on a yearly basis.
