Privacy & Confidentiality Policy

Campbell River Family Services Society (CRFSS) handles information in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Canada) and the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia). Information about these acts and CRFSS’s Privacy and Confidentiality policies is available at CRFSS offices. Questions and/or complaints regarding privacy and confidentiality may be directed to the agency’s Executive Director (Privacy Officer).

All participants in programs operated by CRFSS and recipients of agency services can expect that all personal information provided to the agency will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. CRFSS will release personal information concerning a client only with a writer permission of the client (unless ordered by a court).

In instances were clients are mandated under the provisions of the Child, Family and Community Services Act of British Columbia to attend services, every effort will be made to adhere to this Privacy Policy when sharing information with mandating agency personnel.

Disclosure of personal information may be shared in situations where there may be a duty to warn, a safety concern or a child protection concern.

CRFSS regularly reviews its policies and practices.
